As with the class information page, this page is also a "work in progress". As we get instructors, we will be updating the info on this page. To learn about the fantastic instructors, here are some brief bios on them. Classes that they will teach can be found at Classes



First, obviously, the two founders/coordinators of this event:

LINDA HARKNESS: - www.lindaharkness.com
Linda, who is the lovely wife of Emilio Marasco, (Meany's First Aid contact) and the mom of Christopher and Juliana, has an MA in Psychology and has been a licensed Massage Therapist since 1990, practicing in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood Her nickname (lovingly) is "Radiator Hands", as her hands are very warm and comforting during massages. For the last couple of years, Linda has been offering massages on winter sports weekends, and as word has spread as to how good she is, she has clients who email her to make sure they have a time reserved. She donates all her earnings to the Meany Capital Development Fund. If other Massage Therapists want to offer their services, contact her at massage@meanylodge.org







PATTI POLINSKY:
Patti is the Winter Sports director at Meany Lodge and enjoys snow shoeing, tele skiing, classic nordic and off piste skiing at Meany. She is the project leader at Meany for the remodel of the kitchen, the floors and walls of the main floor and the bathroom updates. In the summer she enjoys long distance hiking and hilake fishing.

Shari brings energy, expertise, business savvy, and a proven results-oriented approach to her work and her clients. Shari has 17 years of clinical dental hygiene experience and her most recent work is in the fields of consulting, coaching, and facilitating.

She has honed her skills while attending the University of Washington where she completed the Integrative Program in Business Administration through the University’s Graduate School. This education has helped her blend her clinical experience and business background. She has worked with several hundred clients internationally has inspired teams to solidify their visions and achieve bottom-line results.

Through her years as an industry leader, Shari has developed programs and spoken nationally as a keynote speaker on a variety of topics from business solutions to life balance.

ADRIENNE MAYS - www.adriennesmassage.com
Adrienne has well over a thousand hours of training and has been offering massage for many years. She is experienced in a wide range of massage treatments, ranging from relaxation, pregancy to Sports. She also aquired endorsements in both lymphatic and intra-oral massage. She is always keeping an eye out for knowledge that will add to her broad skill set of healing talents.

She graduated with BA degrees in Dance, Theatre and Psychology. She continues to dance, both on and off the ground. She's an active climber. Acquired a fair number of injuries and worked through them, giving that touch of personal insight to helping others through theirs.

Amanda considers herself a Human Renovator. In her 12 years of practice she has helped hundreds of clients move, look and feel younger, more vibrant, more creative, more themselves. She brings an acute sensitivity and artistry to her work, drawing on her deep connection to nature, her background in the performing arts, and her personal journey of transforming her own emotional and physical pain into freedom and aliveness. She holds an advanced degree from the SOMA Institute of Neuromuscular Integration, is Board Certified by the International Association of Structural Integrators, and is trained in Visceral Manipulation, developmental movement patterning and Nia dance fitness. Based in West Seattle, she offers private hands-on healing and group movement classes. Her goal is to coax her students into deep fulfilling partnership with their own physical nature by upgrading both hardware (bones,muscles,organ function) and software (creativity,movement,energy,beliefs and habits).


DEBORAH COLE
Deborah is a nurse in the O.R. at Seattle's Children Hospital. She arrived in the Pacific Northwest from Florida 11 years ago, and has been active on the Meany Lodge Committee for the past 6 years. She is one of Meany's First Aid providers, and has affectionately been dubbed Meany's "Princess of Sanitation" for keeping an watchful eye on good health practices primarily in the Kitchen, but also in housecleaning in general. Deborah was the driving force and project manager for the carpeting of the stairs and remodeling, painting and carpeting of the 2nd and 3rd floors.

Diagnosed in recent years with gluten sensitivity and other food allergies, she has had amazing health changes for the better on her revised diet. This has prompted her, as a nurse, to gather a lot of information and resources regarding the "hidden epidemic" of food allergy/intolerance health problems, and share that knowledge wherever possible so that others might also have the opportunity to feel better.





CLARISSIA BROWN
In Seattle, since 1999, I've been teaching yoga, mostly out of ProRobics Clubs in Queen Anne and Laurelhurst. Now, having just completed her second 200-hour yoga teacher training program at YogaLife studios, I am thrilled to bring new energy into my classes and retreats. In addition to practicing yoga, I practice law at a downtown firm. In May, I've got a little right eye surgery coming up, hence, the sunglasses. It was also a sunny day in April in Seattle when Patti shot the picture in her lovely backyard.







DOROTHEE WIHL - www.redmondmassage.com
Was born and grew up outside of Cologne, Germany. and came to Seattle when she was 23 years old. She was inspired to study and pursue a career in Massage Therapy through a great friend and graduated with honors in 2000 from Ashmead Massage School. She has gathered a great amount of experience working at Pro Sports Club in Bellevue and Gold's Gym in Redmond. She now runs her proctices at Health Within in Redmond

Her ontinuing education includes: Her passion and focus lies in helping people with structural alignment imbalances as well as acute and chronic soft tissue injuries and tension. She wants to help you get back to doing all the activities you like, pain free and with increased mobility. She specialize in Structural Integration (KMI) and Deep Tissue/Injury Treatment Massage including Postural Alignment, Gait Assessment and a multitude of applicable treatment techniques


REBECCA COLLIAS
Graduated from Bellevue Massage School in 2010 turning a long-standing interest in body and energy work into a new career. She believes that massage is an important element in reclaiming and maintaining wellness on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. She tailors each session to meet her clients’ unique needs and to help them experience and work with the healing wisdom of their own body/mind/spirit. Rebecca offers injury treatment, deep tissue, Swedish, Manual Ligament Therapy (MLT), Craniosacral Therapy, and Reiki. She is also endorsed by the State to provide intraoral massage for TMJ. Over the years Rebecca has also studied Therapeutic Touch, Polarity, and Trager. She continues to expand her knowledge of the body/mind/spirit and techniques that give her more tools to meet the needs of her clients.

Rebecca works at Rhea Healing Essentials and Dreamclinic, both located in Seattle





Gail is the cute one
GAIL MC CLARY:
Gail has been a member of The Mountaineers for almost 30 years and has participated in many activities and at many levels. She is a retired Registered Nurse and began teaching Zumba® classes 3 years ago.











KIM OKAMURA DDS: - www.kimokamuradds.com
Kim's foray into dentistry is an interesting one, to say the least. A 34-year veteran of the dental industry, she originally began her career as a chair side assistant, then returned to school with the intention of becoming a hygienist. After two professors suggested she try dental school, she decided to enroll. Nine years later she wears a white coat to work, has three initials after her name and hasn't looked back since! It is this well-rounded experience that makes her so adept at her craft.

She was born and raised in Seattle, has been married for 25 years, and is the proud mother of two wonderful children. She has a strong interest in art and loves to build and paint miniature models. Her mechanical mind loves to take things apart and put them back together, while her abstract mind craves to learn about people and their interactions with others.

Juliana:
Juliana (yep the one in the picture with Linda) is one of the "Meany Kids" and has been taking skiing/snowboarding lessons at Meany for the last 4 years and will be a freshmen at Seattle's Nova High School in September. When not at Meany, she keeps herself entertained by playing soccer, Since 5 year old) and attending the Seattle Girls Choir (since 6 years old). She has just been been promoted to the highest choir level, Prime Voci. She is excited as they will be touring Germany in the summer of 2012.

Juliana is also a talented actress (She is nicknamed "The Drama Queen"), has performed in a musical rendition of Shakespeare's "The Tempest". (She's the one in the golden tunic). Along with helping make and starring in "Meany Videos" ( Chuckisms and Teddy's Revenge)




Madi:
Madi has been coming up to Meany since 2005, so she is one of the "older meany kids. (her dad Shawn, is one of our Snow-cat Drivers). She enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing as well as snowboarding, she definitely covers all winter sports. During most of the year she rows with Green Lake Crew, and is on the Poets Laureate Committee at Roosevelt High School in Seattle. She also happens to be Juliana "big sister".
